In September we have our annual coach trip, in 2006 it was the turn of National Space Centre to ‘enjoy’ a visit from the CAA and CYA. Beside the space centre is the Abbey pumping station museum of Industry and Technology, and a few members wandered over to have a look. Brian caught up with a group admiring a large steam shovel, and he just happen to mention his steam driving experience in 1994. Two minutes later it was decided we should go steam driving again, and on the return journey to Cambridge members on both coaches were ‘sounded out’. There was clearly enough interest among members to make a group visit worth while.

The National Space Centre is seen behind the stream shovel that fired members enthusiasm for steam.
