Star Formation Star formation is a key unsolved problem in modern astrophysics, because how and where stars form has consequences from understanding how galaxies evolve to the hunt for Earth-like planets around other stars in the Milky Way. In this talk I will discuss our understanding of how new stars form from the interstellar medium - the gas and dust between the stars of the Milky Way. I will also discuss what we know about how planets form around these new stars, and the extent to which our Solar System is unusual. This will be held in person at the Institute of Astronomy - doors open 7:30pm
