Cambridge AstroPlus

Monday 1st February 2021
Start time : 19:15

Speaker : CAA

We start the new year by looking how the ancient Greek astronomers solved many problems in astronomy, usually by using the simplest of equipment, although a 2000 year old astronomical calculator has been found.

You already know many of their names; Ptolemy, Aristotle, Pythagoras, Hipparchus and many others. So, how do you set about measuring the size of the Moon without the aid of modern technology?

From now on the Cambridge AstroPlus incorporates the previous Cambridge Young Astronomers 11+ Group and also officially welcomes any of our members over the age of 11 to attend.

These Cambridge AstroPlus talks are presented by members of the CAA.
