From the comfort of your own home!

The event will be run live by Zoom - see below for how to join.


Paul will open the meeting, presenting from his home observatory with a short talk about the plan for the evening.

This will be followed, by remote observing of the Stars, Planets, Moons and other objects viewed through Paul's 14-inch telescope with camera linked to screen.

Further views of the sky will be provided using a wide field camera and we will be joined by other members of the CAA who have worked to bring their observatories on line as well, so that we can go over to them for different views.

And of course Paul, Brian and Jonathan will be offering their expert commentary on the object that we are able to track down and show live for you.

In the event of cloud, we will present a short talk about some interesting aspect of astronomy and a planetarium style show of what we would have chased down for you if it had been clear!

About our speaker:

Paul is chairman of the Cambridge Astronomical Society and a keen amateur astronomer having built his first telescope in 1975, he now operates his own private observatory and takes many astronomical images of both deep sky and solar system objects. He studied at Emmanuel College Cambridge, from which he has an MA in Natural Sciences and a post-graduate Diploma in Computer Science. He is an elected Fellow of both the Royal Astronomical Society and the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and RAS Fellow to Cunard line as well as a part-time advisor and board member of a number of software and electronics design companies in the Cambridge area.
