The British In Space
The British in Space
It is 50 years (within 4 days!) of the first launch of a satellite by a British rocket. The satellite called Orba or X-2 was a spherical gold plated satellite which was designed to have the decay of it’s orbit measured as the atmosphere began to slow it down before it eventually would burn up. We’ll see what happen to this and other launches, as we examine how Britain fared going into space.
