Space Planes
Saturday 31st August 2019
Start time : 10:00

Speaker : CAA

The idea of space places took off in the comic books of the 1950s (like Dan Dare from the Eagle comic), by 1960 NASA was working with the US Air Force on X-20 Dyna-Soar rocket plane which became extinct in 1973! The construction on the first test space shuttle called Enterprise began in 1974. Five space shuttles that could reach low Earth orbit we built, but were never economical and the last flight was 8 years ago. Now several space planes are being developed or built to reach low Earth orbit, or fly in the atmospheres of a few planets or their moons.
